Fragmented Protection: Institutional Fragmentation and Safeguarding Continuity in Australian Child Protection Systems
Minor Thesis Project | Master of Development Studies | University of Melbourne
2026–2027
Tia-Louise is developing a minor thesis examining how institutional fragmentation within Australian child protection systems shapes safeguarding continuity for children moving between different systems of care.
The project explores the relationship between institutional structures, governance arrangements, and the coordination of child protection responses.
The research engages with scholarship relating to settler colonial studies, Indigenous governance, institutional analysis, classification systems, and social policy.

Research Internship | 2026
As part of her Master of Development Studies, Tia-Louise will undertake a 100-hour internship with the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare.
The internship will provide experience engaging with child and family welfare policy and practice.
